Frequently asked questions

What bong accessories do I actually need?

Three essentials:

Extra bowls (glass or ceramic) – they break first, always good to have a spare.

Downstem – if yours cracks, the whole bong is useless until replaced.

Screens or glass daisy filters – keep ash from pulling through into your water.

Nice‑to‑haves: a cleaning plug kit, hemp wick, and silicone bowl holder (so you don’t burn your table).

How do I know what size bowl or downstem to buy?

Measure twice, order once.

Downstem size: Look for two numbers – length (inches from joint to bottom tip) and joint size (usually 14mm or 18mm). Example: “5 inches, 14mm male.”

Bowl size: Matches your downstem’s joint – 10mm, 14mm, or 18mm. “Male” bowls go into “female” downstems (and vice versa).

Still confused? Take a photo of your bong’s joint and message us – we’ll help.

What’s a diffused downstem, and do I need one?

Yes, if you want smoother hits. A diffused downstem has small slits or holes at the bottom that break smoke into tiny bubbles. More bubbles = more cooling + filtration. It’s the cheapest upgrade that actually makes a noticeable difference. Most basic bongs come with a plain downstem – swapping to a diffused one costs under $10 and feels like a new piece.

Can I use a regular rubber O‑ring from the hardware store?

You can, but we don’t recommend it. Hardware store O‑rings aren’t made for heat or contact with isopropyl alcohol. They can melt, crack, or give off weird smells. Our bong O‑rings are silicone or heat‑resistant rubber – safe, airtight, and last for years. They cost like 50 cents – just get the right one.

How do I clean my bong accessories?

Same as your bong, but smaller.

Bowls & downstems: Soak in isopropyl alcohol + salt inside a ziplock bag. Shake, rinse.

Screens: Throw away metal screens when clogged (they’re cheap). Glass daisy screens can be soaked in alcohol.

Silicone parts (grommets, plugs): Warm soapy water – alcohol can dry them out over time.

Never boil glass accessories – thermal shock can crack them.

What’s the most underrated bong accessory?

A set of silicone stopper plugs (under $5).

When you shake your bong with alcohol and salt, the liquid always leaks out of the downstem hole and mouthpiece. Plugs seal both ends so you can shake violently without making a mess. Your bathroom sink will thank you. Second place: hemp wick – no lighter butane taste, just clean flame.
